Becky and the Birds

Thea Gustafsson, who writes, records, and produces under the moniker Becky and the Birds, is naturally disciplined, with a formal musical education from Musikmakarna Songwriters Academy in Sweden. Her childhood violin playing fueled her unending pursuit of perfectionism, which deeply shaped both her craft and her life. However, recently, she has come to see little point in adhering to these rigid standards. This newfound freedom and shift in perspective paved the way for the debut Becky and the Birds album, ONLY MUSIC MAKES ME CRY NOW (due November 15). By abandoning self-imposed expectations and embracing experimentation, Gustafsson has turned a new leaf, giving herself the space to get out of her head and create something driven by an inherent trust in herself.
