Getting to Brighton – Travel Info

Planning your trip to The Great Escape? Brighton is one of the UK’s most accessible and vibrant seaside cities—perfect for a festival getaway. Whether you’re coming from London, elsewhere in the UK, or further afield, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know about getting here.

From London

Brighton is just a short train ride from London, making it super easy to escape the city for the coast.

By Train:

Direct trains run regularly from London Victoria and London Bridge to Brighton Station, with journey times as quick as 1 hour. Trains also run from St Pancras International via Thameslink. Book in advance for the best fares via National Rail or Trainline.

By Car:

Take the A23/M23 southbound from London—Brighton is around a 2-hour drive depending on traffic. Parking is limited in the city centre during the festival, so we recommend using public transport where possible.

From Other Parts of the UK

By Train:

Brighton is well-connected to many major UK cities. Direct services run from places like Southampton, Portsmouth, Bristol, and Cambridge, while most other routes connect via London.

By Coach:

National Express and Megabus offer affordable coach services from cities across the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Leeds. Coaches arrive at Brighton Pool Valley Coach Station, just a short walk from the beach and main venues.

By Car:

Brighton is accessible via the A27 from the east or west, and the A23/M23 from the north. If you’re driving, check local parking options in advance or consider park & ride services on the outskirts of the city.

International Travel

Flying In:

The closest airport to Brighton is London Gatwick (LGW), just 30 minutes away by direct train. Regular services run between Gatwick and Brighton, making it the most convenient option for international visitors.

You can also fly into:

London Heathrow (LHR): About 90 minutes to Brighton via train and underground connections through London.

London Stansted / Luton: Longer travel times, but still accessible via train through central London.

Eurostar (from Europe):

If you’re travelling from Europe, take the Eurostar to London St Pancras International, then hop on a Thameslink train directly to Brighton (approx. 1hr 15mins).
