Sunnbrella is the project of London-based musician and producer David Zbirka. Shaped by a rich musical upbringing, he found early inspiration in his father’s record collection before discovering the emotive pull of emo, hardcore, and shoegaze. This diverse foundation informs Sunnbrella’s sound—a fusion of hazy guitar textures, pulsating club rhythms, and introspective lyricism.
Following the success of his 2023 debut Heartworn, Zbirka evolved the project’s sonic identity, blending alternative rock rawness with electronic experimentation. His new album Gutter Angel explores darker, more abrasive territory while retaining a melodic edge, capturing the complexities of identity, love, and self-destruction.
