Founded in 2008, WUTIAOREN is a band formed by Renke and Maotao. With eleven albums under its belt, the band is widely regarded as one of the key representatives of China’s independent music scene.
Their music blends folk and rock with strong regional characteristics. They often sing in the Haifeng dialect, and their lyrics focus on small-town life, ordinary people, and social change. Their expression is direct, grounded, and often carries a touch of humor and realism. The band blurs the boundary between art and life, tearing through the barriers of language, region, class and generation, cementing its phenomenal status in China.
