pecq are producer and multi-instrumentalist duo Hannah (Jakes) Jacobs (synth player for Barry Can’t Swim) and Niko O’Brien (audio engineer for the likes of Liz Fraser and Porij).
Referencing the experimental, spiralling work of Boards Of Canada and Ultraísta and the emotive songwriting of Little Dragon, Robyn and Caribou as influences on their music, pecq move through choppy dance beats, twisting alt-pop melodies and blissful ambient daydreams. Crunchy drums slowly morph into glitchy samples, synth tones and soft piano come in and out of focus, sounds re-sampled and mangled through DIY studio equipment, woven together with Jakes’s arresting, ethereal vocal.
