You’ve probably heard of Jasmine Thompson. Maybe you watched her, barely a teen, rack up millions of views covering songs
by Death Cab for Cutie, Bon Iver and Rihanna on YouTube. Perhaps you saw her rocket to fame, perform on The Today Show
and embark on epic tours when she was only 13. But there was never any grand plan for teen pop stardom on Jasmine or her
family’s part. Discovered by a major US label at 12, ideas of what a young female artist should look and sound like were
projected upon the London talent, resulting in huge success but leaving little room for self-discovery or expression. “I think
everyone eventually has that moment of questioning, is what I’m doing fulfilling?” she says. “I just happened to hit that point
really young.”
