Eivør hails from the Faroe Islands, a remote Nordic archipelago with a rich history of foreign rule dating back to the Viking Age. Today, the Faroes are a semi-autonomous part of Denmark. Deeply influenced by the island’s stark landscapes and vibrant folk traditions, Eivør’s music is shaped by the contrasts of harsh winters and bright summers. Growing up in a small village, she was inspired by the resilience of Faroese culture, especially communal singing and dancing. Her unique guttural singing style, influenced by beatboxing, throat-singing, and metal growling, channels the untamed spirit of her homeland’s traditional music, offering a primal connection to her roots.
