This expansive nine-piece line-up who claim William Blake’s Jerusalem as their founding text, has been gaining notoriety for their eccentric and blustering live performances, and blending folk, blues, punk and even medieval hymns to produce their unique sound. As a group who sing their ‘prayers to the wind’, tell of ‘old man England on the moor’ and rework 14th Century Latin hymns on their recent debut album Babble, Bishopskin’s very existence is revolt against modernity, an escapist sojourn into fantasies of a mythologised, Blakean England via the modes of folk revivalism and the avant-garde.
