This year marks a belated 15 years of The Great Escape, now firmly established and renowned as being the festival for new music. What better way to celebrate our birthday than organising a road trip?
The Great Escape are excited to bring you the initial line-up for The Road To The Great Escape, a brand new live music showcase taking place in Glasgow and Dublin in the run up to the main festival in Brighton. With a great selection of UK and international artists announced today, we can’t wait to bring a taste of TGE to some brand new cities.
We’ll begin in Glasgow, with 2 jam-packed days at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and The Garage on 8-9 May. Our Scottish leg will see exclusive appearances from hotly-tipped alternative R&B singer and rapper BERWYN, one of pop’s most essential new voices Baby Queen, the enigmatic indie alternative guru Oscar Lang, rainbow-hued funky soul pop artist Remi Wolf and punk troupe Chubby and the Gang amongst others. Glasgow will also see exclusive performances by Scottish Nu-Folk sensation Lizzie Reid, Glaswegian theatrical punks Walt Disco, and more still to be announced.
The Road To The Great Escape will then move on to Dublin, where we’ll be taking over Whelan’s, Workman’s Club, Grand Social and The Academy for multiple shows on the evenings of 10-11 May. From Irish rising stars Denise Chaila, LUZ and CMAT, performing alongside Indie rocker and singer Kennyhoopla, UK’s Baby Queen and Holly Humberstone, amongst many more, we’ll be showcasing a huge range of rising talent in true TGE style.
Artists joining us on the road and making appearances at both locations include Aaron Smith, Baby Queen, Berwyn, Chubby and The Gang, KennyHoopla, Michelle, Oscar Lang, Peach Tree Rascals and Remi Wolf.
The full list of acts announced so far can be found here, with more artists to follow in both cities.
