The Great Escape is all about championing the new and today we have a brand new partnership which brings a collection of need to know new artists. Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you Gilles Peterson’s Future Bubblers, the new talent discovery and development arm of Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Music, funded by the Arts Council. It’s ethos to extend into new areas of activity and new areas geographically across England, focusing on emerging artists from the underfunded leftfield contemporary music sector. The organisation handpicks and actively seeks out these new musical talents, mentoring them over a period of years.
The Future Bubblers line-up includes; alternative singer-songwriter Kid Katharsis, singer Yazmin Lacey with her rich soulful voice, Neo soul-influenced Mali Hayes, jazz-based producer Broadstrokes, Brighton’s own Elsa Hewitt, singer and MC Skinny Pelembe and Sheffield’s warped RnB star Nashe xx.
Gilles Peterson said: “Future Bubblers is about identifying and developing some of the most exciting, left-field, genre blurring music from across the country. We’ve been working with these artists over the past 2 years and this opportunity to work with a festival as established as The Great Escape, to be in the mix of the rest of the UK industry, and to show the world what they’re made of, is so timely for these Bubblers. This will be an important spring board for all the future great things to come for them.”
The Future Bubblers stage will be part of The Great Escape core programme taking place 17th – 19th May 2018. Saver tickets are on sale now
