Music consultancy CMU Insights undertakes regular research projects that seek to explain the inner workings of the music business, to educate those that work in the industry, to inform debate on the key issues of the day, and to encourage best practice across the music community.

Redefining Music Education
CMU Insights is embarking on a major piece of new research reviewing the state of music education in the UK. The project will investigate how business and entrepreneurial skills could be better incorporated into the music and wider arts curriculum, and how doing so could help make a stronger case for increased investment in these subjects.
The first phase of this project is underway, with the results due to be launched at The Education Conference presented by CMU Insights at this year’s Great Escape in Brighton on 16 May. Discussions that will take place at The Education Conference will then inform the next phase of this research.

MAPPING THE MUSIC SUPPLY CHAIN
CMU Insights and AIM are embarking on a major new research project that will map the digital music supply chain for the first time – and the project will be unveiled at AIM House during TGE, on Friday 18 May at 4.30pm.
We will present a new guide to music distribution that explains the different kinds of delivery partners labels can now work with, as well as outlining the wider research programme.
