2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the BPI, the representative voice for the UK’s world-leading record labels and music companies.
The BPI’s membership consists of more than 500 independent labels and associate members and also its record company groups – Universal Music UK, Sony Music Entertainment UK and Warner Music UK. Its total membership taken together accounts for around 85% of legitimate domestic music consumption and 1 in 10 streams around the world.
The BPI promotes British music through international trade missions, the Music Export Growth Scheme and The BRIT Awards, which it owns and organises. It administers The BRIT Certified Awards and BRIT Billion programmes, co-owns the Official Charts Company with ERA, and is home to The Mercury Prize.
The BPI supports innovation and technology through its Music & Tech Springboard Programme and Insight Sessions series alongside extensive free training, networking events, and market reports, including its annual yearbook ‘All About The Music’.
The BPI’s community engagement is directed through its charity The BRIT Trust.
