We are thrilled to announce Carousel as our new lead charity partner for TGE23.
Carousel champions the rights of artists with a learning disability to flourish and be celebrated. In film, music, performance and digital arts, in our partnerships and training, Carousel is dedicated to making learning disabled creativity a valued part of the cultural landscape.
“This has been an important 12 months for Carousel as we mark our 40th year and we are delighted to finish it off by becoming the official charity partner for The Great Escape in 2023. Our ethos to put learning disabled artists and performers at the heart of our work is as important as ever and central to that is developing, producing and promoting exceptional musicians and bands.
Our record label FairGround Records is focused on nurturing those learning disabled artists. We believe everyone has the ability to make music and a little support is all that’s needed to make it happen. Musicians have learned their instruments, formed bands, toured the country and released albums with Carousel’s assistance.
The Rock House has been our regular Brighton gig for over 10 years, featuring many exceptional bands, some who have learning disabilities and some who don’t. Sometimes we grow The Rock House into a full-day festival, or work alongside events and venues in other cities to book learning disabled musicians.
At Carousel we love new music and being a Brighton-based charity we have long been fans and attendees of The Great Escape festival so are beyond excited to work with them. We think it’s a brilliant fit and can’t wait to get started.”
When purchasing festival tickets and conference passes for The Great Escape 2023 you will be given an opportunity to donate to this amazing charity. You can also donate directly via the Carousel website.
We’ll be announcing more details of Carousel’s plans for TGE23 in the coming months.
